The Star-Crossed Sisters of Tuscany

Bellisima

Don’t you love when a book is just as beautiful as its cover? The Star-Crossed Sisters of Tuscany is a sweet story of love, fate, and destiny. Twenty-nine year old, Emilia Fontana was born into a family curse in which all second daughters, as she, are destined to live a loveless life. It has been engrained into her and her cousin and fellow second daughter, Lucy, an alluring an feisty young woman looking for love in all the wrong places. Neither of them know what to think when their long estranged Aunt Poppy, and fellow second daughter, calls out of the blue with an invitation for an all-expenses paid trip to Italy. Curiosity and desire for something more in her life lure Emilia into packing her bags and convincing her cousin to join her on this once in a life time adventure.

The Star-Crossed Sisters is utterly enchanting. I fell in love with Poppy from the start. I enjoyed uncovering the meaning behind this trip and learning about the life of this extraordinary, selfless, and wise woman. I have so many gorgeous Poppy-isms- words of encouragement and wisdom- underlined.

This story was an unpredictable one for me, reading as a fascinating Italian telenovela, surprising me at every turn. Family secrets and deception and a colorful cast of characters make for an intriguing ride- set in the captivating golden country sides of Tuscany.

As a thirty one year old single woman, I was able to relate to many of the pressures being put upon the Fontana women at this age to “get it together.” I was charmed by this plot and the idea that when we follow our hearts,  anything is possible. This book is a lovely reminder to follow YOUR path, whatever that may look like for you, and to own your truth. I am so happy to have read this at this stage of my life. I look forward to more from Spielman.
