Arctic Fury- Greer Maccallister
Incredible. I don’t believe I could have picked a more perfect read to start our Women’s History Month and I very much doubt there will be one that will trump this story of sisterhood.
The Arctic Fury tells the story of thirteen women who take on an expedition into the Arctic in search of a missing party that has been unable to be recovered by four separate expeditions made up of men. After these failed attempts, it is decided to send a group of women in to triumph where men could not.
This group made up of women from very different walks of life and varying skillsets is led by Virginia Reeve who had previously led hundreds to safety.
Unfortunately the merciless Arctic manages to capture lives of their party regardless of Virginia’s former successes. It is one of these deaths that lead to her arrest in question of murder.
The Arctic Fury alternates between nail biting courtroom drama and an enrapturing arctic adventure.
Macallister adeptly illustrates the power of female resilience against all odds.
The Arctic Fury reminds us that bravery is not without a lack of fear. It showcases an extraordinary resilience perhaps unique to women and the unmatched strength a sisterhood lends in keeping hope afloat in the darkest of hours.
