The Inheritance of Orquídea Divina- Zoraida Córdova

Thank you so much @simonandschuster for this gorgeous ARC. The Inheritance of Orquídea Divina releases September 7th. You’ll want to preorder this one! 🥀 ✨

The Inheritance of Orquidea Divina opens with an invitation from the mysterious machtriac of the Montaya clan. Her death date is near and the time has come for her to bestow her legacy among her family. They join together at their home created by Mama Orquidea in Four Rivers with hopes of retrieving answers to impossibilities they had all witnessed growing up. As time quickly passes and Orquidea makes her transformation from the human realm, however, the family only finds themselves with even more questions and not a clue as to where to discover the truth.

After seven mostly quiet years, the Montoya family tree has been rattled and members are startlingly dropping from its limbs. It is up to cousins Marimar, Rey, Tatinelly and her rose bud daughter, Rhiannon to join together and harness their gifts to fulfill Orquidea’s dying wish: to protect their magic.

First off, I believe Cordova is the Latina Alice Hoffman and I am one thousand percent here for it.

The Inheritance of Orquídea Divina is an utterly enticing read from the very beginning. The characters are flawed in the most beautifully human sense that makes you relate to and care so deeply for them. This novel follows the parallel stories of Orquidea, her granddaughter Marimar, and their search to fill voids missing in their lives. The two will learn that their quests can’t be done alone and what truly wields the greatest power in this world: love.

Another score for Latinx representation!! I believe it’s so important to see yourself reflected in the pages you read. I didn’t have stories of strong Latina women growing up. I didn’t have stories of women with mental illnesses that weren’t deemed “crazy.” I am so so grateful to this community and the direction in which we are heading in the inclusivity of all.
